Simultaneously rugged and refined, the Vaer A5 represents our vision for the future. Functional, attractive and highly customizable the A5 represents not only a continued investment in timeless, durable design but also our commitment to American craftsmanship and local sourcing.
The A5 model is perfectly suited for underwater activity. The caseback and crown use a threaded screw-down design that maintains an airtight seal, making the watch functionally waterproof. Importantly, unlike most ocean-rated watches, our USA Assembled Automatic is also incredibly slim and comfortable on the wrist, boasting a 40mm diameter and a sub-10mm thickness, which is rare on watches with a locking crown function.
To further enhance the value and "ocean-to-office" functionality of the watch, every A5 comes standard with two interchangeable straps. Our Vaer strap options include a range of both ocean-ready options designed for water based activities, and our premium Horween leather straps which are tanned in Chicago and handmade in the USA from heavy native steer hides.
In addition to Made in USA leather straps, every Vaer A5 is hand-assembled and tested in America. We’re committed to USA Assembly for the A5 model, not only because it improves product quality, but because it adds a strong sense of place and personality to our brand.

We stand behind and products, which is Vaer offers a warranty of 2 years from purchase. If you experience any issues due to defects in materials and workmanship, we’ll either repair or replace your watch. Your watch is meant to be taken in the water and used in daily life, so if your watch for some reason fails in the water, you can reach out to us, and we’ll make it right.
Assembled in America
Our company is strongly committed to supporting craftsmanship and local manufacturing in the United States. Our entry level automatic watch is hand-assembled and pressure tested in Los Angeles by our team of skilled technicians. The individual components of the Vaer Automatic include a Japanese made Miyota 9015 movement, a 316L stainless steel case, a scratchproof sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback, miniature gaskets and spacers, and dial and hands painted with BG-W9 luminescent. Ocean Ready
Most watches use 3ATM (30 meter) as a base water resistance. Because the rating is at static pressure, you could breach a 3ATM watch while washing your hands. Our goal was to build a watch you could dive with and this meant achieving a 10ATM (100 meter) rating. We achieved this by using an extra-thick sapphire crystal, a rotating caseback, and a threaded screwdown crown. Read more about water resistance ▸
Interchangeable Straps
Every Vaer watch comes standard with two interchangeable straps. Our standard strap is made from a dense nylon weave that is comfortable, waterproof, and strong enough to withstand 350 pounds of tension. The strap features 13 laser cut holes, spaced 5mm apart and spanning a range between 155mm and 215mm. We also offer a Horween leather strap, tanned in Chicago and made in the USA.
