It features a fully bead-blasted 41.5mm case, recessed 4:00 screw-down crown, reinforced shock protection, 200-meter water resistance, and 3D Super-LumiNova block markers—the brightest lume Vaer has produced to date.

1. Purpose & Design Overview (C4 Tactical Collection)
The C4 Tactical represents a new category within the Vaer lineup: a purpose-built operator’s tool watch inspired by historic military-issued dive watches of the 1970s.
The primary historical reference is the Benrus Type I—issued to U.S. Navy SEALs and special operations units during the Vietnam era. The Department of Defense specified that these watches must be simple, durable, low-reflective, and capable of surviving harsh aquatic and field conditions.
The C4 carries that same “form follows function” ethos forward while updating the platform with modern solar quartz accuracy and zero battery maintenance.
Case dimensions:

The case blends aggressive geometry with ergonomic flow, drawing subtle influence from Vaer’s R1 chronograph case lines and dive collection lug structure. Despite its substantial presence, the recessed crown design improves wrist comfort under gear.
2. Water Resistance & Crown Engineering
The C4 Tactical is rated to 20 ATM / 200 meters of water resistance.
This rating is suitable for:
- Swimming
- Surfing
- Snorkeling
- Free diving
- Recreational scuba diving within no-decompression limits
The C4 introduces Vaer’s first recessed 4:00 screw-down crown. Positioned lower and partially shielded by the case wall, it reduces wrist interference and accidental crown movement.
When secured, the crown sits nearly flush with the case profile.
To secure the crown:
- Press gently toward the case
- Rotate clockwise until snug
- Do not overtighten
Important: Never expose the watch to water unless the crown is fully screwed down.
3. Setting the Time and Date (Solar Quartz Movement)
The C4 uses Vaer’s solar quartz platform. Light is converted into electrical energy via a solar cell beneath the dial and stored in a rechargeable internal power cell.
To set:
- Unscrew the crown counterclockwise
- Pull outward
Position 1 – Date (if applicable)
- Pull to first click
- Rotate to advance the date
Position 2 – Time
- Pull to second click
- Rotate to set time
Push inward and screw down securely once complete.
4. Tactical 12-Hour Bezel Function
The C4 features a unidirectional 12-hour bezel with a 20-minute graduated scale.
This configuration allows:

- Second time zone referencing
The bezel rotates in one direction to prevent accidental time extension during use.
5. Solar Charging & Power Reserve
Solar charging behavior:
- ~6 hours of direct sunlight provides up to 6 months of reserve

- Lamp light and ambient light also charge the movement
If the seconds hand begins moving in irregular increments, the watch requires charging. Place dial-up in bright indirect light.

6. Lume & Dial Construction
The C4 features 3D printed Super-LumiNova resin blocks instead of traditional painted lume.
These luminous markers:

- Visually echo historical tritium tube military watches
The dial typography draws inspiration from U.S. Air Force stencil fonts used on aircraft such as the F-16 and B-2. The handset features a hybrid syringe / gladiator design with black-painted inner sections to increase lume contrast.
A subtle red accent on the seconds hand provides minimal contrast without compromising low-visibility intent.
7. Case Finishing & Structural Durability
The C4 is Vaer’s first fully bead-blasted case platform. Bead blasting eliminates reflective surfaces and creates a consistent matte texture across case and bezel.
Available configurations:

- DLC-coated black (diamond-like carbon) for increased surface hardness
The internal movement is protected by a reinforced rubber shock cage for enhanced impact resistance.
The flat sapphire crystal provides maximum scratch resistance (9 on the Mohs hardness scale).
8. Caseback & Customization
The caseback is intentionally designed with a blank central surface to allow for custom engraving, including unit logos, squadron emblems, or personal markings.
On the DLC model, the caseback remains bare steel for improved skin comfort and engraving clarity.
The perimeter of the caseback features the NATO phonetic alphabet (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc.) as both a functional and heritage detail.
9. Shock, Magnetism & Serviceability
The C4 is engineered for elevated shock resistance and daily operational use.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to strong magnetic sources
Solar power eliminates routine battery replacement. However, seals and gaskets should be periodically inspected to maintain water resistance.
The screw-down caseback allows resealing and pressure testing if required.
